ABOUT USSo just who is this "we" who are dying to meet you? Prime Crime owner Linda Wiken is a mystery writer and mystery fan. In 1995, in a move that put previous shopping sprees to shame, Linda and Mary Jane Maffini bought Prime Crime. Since then, every day has seemed like Christmas, although Mary Jane is no longer an owner, but rather contributes to the store's continuing success by writing three popular mystery series (which we sell). Linda is a a member of the infamous and mysterious Ladies' Killing Circle and has been co-editor for three of their anthologies: Cottage Country Killers, When Boomers Go Bad, and Going Out With a Bang. Her short fiction has appeared in all seven of the anthologies and she was short-listed for an Arthur Ellis award for Best Short Story from Crime Writers of Canada. (Of course, we also carry these anthologies). Linda's eyes still light up when she comes across a new Canadian author. They also light up when she sees a Siamese cat. But that is neither here nor there. The part-time staff who are eager to match you to a great read are: Sylvia Braithwaite, Anne Robison and Inge Wright. They love reading mysteries as much as you do! Sam, who has the distinction of being the only fully-articulated skeleton in the Glebe (although we haven't checked any closets so aren't entirely certain that's totally true), attached himself to us in New York. In a bone shop on Broadway to be precise. We hurriedly chose him and opted for a quick exit when the two live Boa Constrictors arrived on the scene. But that's another story. Talk about flustering Customs officials--they couldn't decide how to classify Sam, not being your usual arrival, but were determined to collect the duty so put him down as a 'novelty'. Very offensive to our guy, Sam who's much, much more than that!
